Who We Are

The Cat Safety Network is a Western Australian information project focused on cats, local landscapes, and relevant legislation. We organise publicly available material into structured, suburb-level and council-level reference pages across Western Australia.

Each page links directly to source documents so readers can examine the original material themselves. Where legislation or regulation is referenced, pages link to the relevant Act, amendment, or council documentation in force at the time of publication.

What you will find here

  • State and local regulatory context (with links to official documents)
  • Environmental and landscape context (management plans, reserves, wetlands, bushland edges)
  • Suburb- and council-structured navigation so information is easier to locate
  • Citations prioritising primary sources wherever possible

Growing suburb coverage

Coverage is expanding suburb by suburb across Western Australia. If your suburb does not yet have a dedicated page, you may register to be notified when local information becomes available.

Get suburb updates

Updates may include changes to relevant legislation, new or amended local council rules, or newly published public environmental material.

How the site is built

The Cat Safety Network uses a structured publishing model:

Council pages Suburb pages Landmark pages Citations

Pages are reviewed and updated when source documents change or when new publicly available material becomes relevant.

Experience and funding

The Cat Safety Network is a non-profit community project resourced by KittySafe, a Western Australian business specialising in contained outdoor systems for cats. KittySafe has completed installations across multiple Perth suburbs. This practical, field-based experience informs the environmental and regulatory context referenced throughout the site.

Where relevant, informational pages may link to KittySafe case studies as practical examples of contained systems within specific suburbs. These links are provided for context and transparency.

Partnerships

The Cat Safety Network is actively seeking community partners interested in promoting accurate and helpful information about cats and how they interact with flora and fauna.

Partnerships are granted at the sole discretion of the Cat Safety Network and do not involve financial contributions. They are based on mutual benefit, shared interests, and alignment with the site’s information-focused purpose.

Access and independence

The Cat Safety Network is publicly accessible and does not operate behind a paywall. There are no subscription fees required to read site content. The project operates without advertising and does not accept sponsored content or paid placements.

The site is not affiliated with any council, regulator, or government body.

Scope and limitations

The Cat Safety Network organises and links to publicly available information. It does not provide legal advice and does not replace official documentation. Readers should consult original source material and seek professional advice where required.

Our approach

The goal is to make dispersed information easier to locate, read, and cross-reference across Western Australia through clear structure, direct source linking, and verifiable references.
